Ditto. Erik, as usual, you are “right on.” In my long lost youth I once had a job similar to the way you describe yours–hiring and firing for a multi-magazine publishing company and its book division. Number one provable for any prospective employee is experience. For a high-level job this is absolutely essential. Where IS Obama’s experience?

nice one. I salute you!you stand with what you believe is right. You have the guts to have this letter open. Though I am not an american, But I hope Obama will read this post. You are right, leadership is action not position. Especially now that the world is experiencing global crisis, whoever wins, one must take part of what they can do for the country.

You are right, it is a game, which is why I wanted to see both candidates stop playing games and just get to the job at hand.

I don’t see a problem if the debate had been postponed until the work is finished. Unfortunately, Obama chose to force the debate when he should have been doing his job and getting this mess sorted out.

To “follow” in this case, would have been to show leadership. And holding off on rhetoric while this is going on. There is no real benefit to getting the debate today as opposed to Monday or Tuesday for instance.

He came back with the statement that he would make it a “townhall meeting” if McCain failed to show, effectively forcing McCain to debate or choose to give Obama 90 minutes of free publicity by himself.

When you prioritize debating on TV over solving what can be the greatest financial problem that this generation will ever see. You have little if any right to stand and talk about how you worry about the people on main street. If he worries so, he should have stopped the debates and gotten to work.

Hi Erik, good post. I’m probably over-simplifying here so bear with me. I understand where you’re coming from, however I’ll take the other side. I believe that O. feels that he can do more for the country by carrying on with the campaign and going through with the debate and I wonder if it even occurred to him to postpone, HOWEVER, after McC. stepped up and beat him to the punch, O. may have taken the other side so as not to be seen as weak and/or a follower. It’s such a game—we’ll never know for certain either’s agenda. Just my two cents!
